Grant Athletic schedule for this week. Last week of regular season boys basketball, individual regional wrestling for boys (Saturday) and girls (Sunday), and our Competitive Cheer team competes in districts on Friday.

Blake Rider and Zaiden Phillips combined for 41 points as Grant downed White Cloud 69-37 for their 18th victory in their undefeated season to date. Rider finished with 19 points and Phillips tallied 22. Austin Gragg added 12 points in the win.

Between games we will be recognizing our Varsity Girls and Boys Senior basketball players and thank them for the countless hours of work and dedication to their sport.
This will also be a Pink Out Game Night to pay respect to all those who have had to deal with cancer in any way. This game will be dedicated to the amazing Cheri Wood and her family. Cheri was a teacher at Grant Public Schools where she taught 3rd and 4th grade for eight years, special education for eighteen years and 5th - 8th grade intervention for four years. Cheri eventually lost her battle with cancer in 2020 and soon after her family set up the scholarship fund to honor Cheri and her love for kids of all ages.
All the proceeds from the game will go to help sponsor the Cheri Wood "Kids Come First" Scholarship fund. We will be selling T-shirts, doing a 50/50 raffle, money from the Athletic Boosters 1/2 court shot during halftime, and other activities will all go towards this amazing scholarship.
If there are any businesses that would like to help out and donate towards this event please reach out to Krysta Freeland or Kirk Rider in the athletic office.

Three Tigers earned all conference recognition on Saturday. Newaygo hosted the 2026 CSAA conference individual championship, the last regular season event with districts starting next week. Sophomore Kaden Smith was runner up at 215lbs earning 2nd Team all conference losing to Senior Trae Zerba from Central Montcalm. Senior Cameron Espinoza took 3rd place earning him Honorable Mention defeating Mason from Lakeview and going 3-1 on the day. Sophomore Antonio Santana also earned Honorable Mention, beating Antor from Tri County in the 3rd place match, also going 3-1. The Tigers travel to Kent City Wednesday for team districts and then Whitehall on Saturday for Individual Districts.

Hard to believe that it is already time for Wrestling Team Districts. This year our Wrestling Team will be at Kent City High School on Feb. 11th. They will take on Kent City in the first round of team districts.
