Our 6th grade art students in Mrs. Kelley's art class, are mastering the art of drawing complex objects! Just like you learn to spell by sounding out words; they’re learning to draw by breaking things down into simple shapes. One complicated object that's made up of just ovals are balloon animals! They created their own balloon animal and then drew them using colored pencils. They did an amazing job drawing and we had some very creative names for their balloon dogs going around the classroom. We sure love our budding artists!
Mr. Zimmer's 6th grade classes made smoothies as a culminating activity for their "You Are What You Eat" unit. The unit focused on nutrition by learning about different macronutrients and the changes that happen to food as it travels through the digestive system. Students used what they learned to design a smoothie to help Uncle Carl with his problems of constipation and low energy.
Game Day!! Our boys play their district opener tonight against Comstock Park. The game is at Forest Hills Eastern High School @ 5:30. They will be accepting cash for entrance to the game. #TigerPride
Oscar Mendez went 5-0, earning All-Conference honors Tuesday at the league chess tournament. Evan Clouser, Jaden McCullough, and Zander Renteria all earned honorable mention. #TigerPride
These students are the GMS January Students of the Month. In January our SEL lessons focused on GRIT! Ixeia Escartin-Famandez, Jaron Harris, Joslyn Kuikstra, Carly Watson (not pictured), and Allison VanPopering were our model students! Our staff is so proud of all of our students! This is also our plug in to go see Sponge Bob the Musical! The shows are February 27, 28, and March 1!

Our GMS Super Spellers participated in the County Bee on Tuesday. Although our GREAT spellers didn't advance to the next round, we celebrate how brave, how talented, and how SMART they are! Thank you to all of our spellers that participated!
