Alex Russo won the 126lbs weight class championship ta the Ron Helmbolt Sparta Invitational on Saturday January 11th. The 16 team tournament boasted some of the best teams from the area. Alex started with a pin over his Plainwell opponent, before a major decision in the semifinals against Hendrick from Sparta. Russo also majored Bessinger from Grand Haven in the finals. Kashton Atwood finished 6th at 132lbs. After a pin against his Ravenna opponent in the first round, Kashton fel to the 1# seed Gant. Atwood won his next match by tech fall, then a decision over Coller from Byron Center. Kashton fell in the placement match to DeKorne form Sparta. The Tigers go to Kent City next Wednesday for a CSAA Tri meet. #TigerPride
