We live in a competitive global economy. To prepare our students to meet these demands, we base our curriculum on Michigan Academic Standards. Students at Grant High School may also enroll in Advanced Placement (AP), dual credit, and career and technical courses.

At Grant High School, we believe that academics are the foundation of the high school experience, and we strive to provide an excellent educational experience for every student in our care.

In addition to our regular curriculum, students receive unique learning opportunities through foreign language instruction, clubs, fine arts, and our partnership with Newaygo County RESA.

Our language arts and literacy curriculum addresses the reading, writing, language, and speaking and listening skills each student needs to master as he/she progresses toward college and career. Our highly-trained teachers guide each student through grade-level standards and encourage them to find an appreciation for English through literature.

Our social studies and history curriculums focus on various aspects of the study of human society, including:

With the help of our highly qualified teachers, students gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Within our mathematics curriculum, we set high expectations for our students to ensure their readiness for promotion to the next level of learning. Under the guidance of our highly qualified math instructors, students pursue conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application and modeling. Our balanced approach to mathematics encourages students to integrate new ideas into their growing knowledge of other subjects.

GHS’ science curriculum encompasses the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Our goal is to motivate and engage students in exploring their world in a hands-on way.

Engineering
Our award-winning engineering program from PLTW helps eleventh and twelfth grade students “take the leap from dreaming to doing.” PLTW utilizes technology and problem-solving skills to prepare students for advanced coursework and careers in engineering. Students may also earn college credit.
