All K–12 Schools Closed through the Remainder of the Year

To the Families, Staff, and Students of Grant Public Schools,

Governor Whitmer announced that all K–12 schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year. This is a difficult decision and one that leaves a great deal of uncertainty with all of us working through this together. We are diligently working on putting together a plan for our students to engage in this ‘non-traditional’ time of education and instruction. Our staff members at all of our schools have been working collaboratively to come up with ideas about how best to disseminate materials and to be able to provide a platform for feedback and instruction.

Food Distribution Schedule for April-Adjusted Schedule

April 1, 2020

To the Families, Staff, and Students of Grant Public Schools,

At the time of this message being composed, there had been no official action released by the State of Michigan and Governor Whitmer regarding the rest of the year or new restrictions. We are well aware, however, that new changes and orders will be issued soon. As was mentioned earlier this week, all of our departments are working to stay proactive while continuing to serve our families and students in our community.

There have been much more stringent actions and orders put into place since we initiated our food distribution program pin mid-March. Wanting to ensure the safest environment for all of our people, including our staff members who prepare and help deliver the meals, we will be making some adjustments to our food distribution schedule for the month of April.

We were initially not scheduled to have any meals over the week of our spring break (April 3 through April 10). We will be providing food during that time. The new schedule for the month of April will be: Tuesday and Thursday meals for the entire month. Since we will not be on site every single day, we will be providing the equivalent number of meals and amount of food for the entire week. With the advancement of cases of COVID-19, we want to limit the exposure possibilities for our staff and for our families picking up the meals. Please note that the new schedule will go into effect beginning Thursday, April 2 (no Friday delivery).

Thank you so much for your flexibility and understanding with this. As we are given new directives from the state, we may need to adjust our plans accordingly again. All of our students, staff, and family's safety is our top priority.

Thank you,

Brett Zuver
