INTERNET ACCESS

Internet access has become almost a necessity. Grant Public Schools uses many online resources in the classroom that are also beneficial at home; however, we are aware that Internet access can be a financial strain for families.

Recently, Charter Spectrum launched a new $15.00 per month, high-speed Internet service for families with K–12 students who participate in the National School Lunch Program (free and reduced lunch) and seniors who are 65 or older who receive Supplemental Security Income program benefits. See the following to learn more:

Grant Public Schools provides this for informational use only. There are several Internet providers that service the area; the district does not endorse any provider over another.

Technology

Technology is a vital part of learning today. It is a powerful learning tool that students can carry with them throughout their school years and beyond. We are proud to provide the latest technology in all our classrooms, which we introduce at age-appropriate intervals. Each teacher receives training specific to the resources we provide so they can maximize the use of devices in their classrooms. In addition to a computer lab and computers in each classroom, we provide:

  • Interactive whiteboards

  • Interactive televisions

  • Tablets

  • Computers in every classroom

  • Computer lab

iPAD PROGRAM

To help facilitate learning and increase technical aptitude for the 21st century world, Grant Public Schools issues iPads to all 9th–12th-grade students on the following basis:

  • Students who purchase iPad insurance may use the device at school and take it home with them for the academic year. Any damage obligates the student to pay the necessary deductible.

  • Students who do not purchase insurance must check the iPad out before 1st hour and back in at the conclusion of the school day. Any damage to the iPad during the school day will result in the student paying full price for the repair.

  • Students may opt-out of the iPad program.

Grant Public Schools also makes MacBook Air laptops available to high school students via three mobile classroom carts. Students may check out individual MacBooks in the media center.

Our primary, elementary, and middle school students also have access to iPads and MacBooks via mobile classroom carts.
