Newaygo County Promise Zone

Tuition-free college scholarships are now available to graduating students of Grant High School through the Newaygo County Promise Zone. Scholarships are for those interested in attending Muskegon Community College or Baker College. More Information Online at

In addition to the promise scholarship, students at Grant, have other options for tuition-free higher education. 

  1. Early College Newaygo County (ECNC) is a 3-year program in which students take both high school and MCC college classes their Junior and Senior year, as well as a 13th year of only college classes. Students graduate with an associates degree at the end of year 13, and have the option to transfer credits to other universities.
  2. Students also have the option to simply take college classes during their Junior and Senior year through the Dual Enrollment program. Students are allowed up to 10 classes at MCC, these credits can transfer or be used at MCC to complete an associates degree.
  3. Newaygo County Career Tech Center allows students to earn college credit and / or certificates along with work force skills that will equip students to to enter the work force or college.

Furthermore, middle school students can participate in the Academically Talented Youth Program, 7th and 8th grade students participate in an advanced and accelerated learning program with like-minded peers and earn credit towards high school graduation.
