Library Lessons

The year is off to a great start in the library! Both the Primary Center and elementary libraries were able to begin book check-out the first day of school. The students are once again learning the procedures in the library and how to take good care of a book. Did you know there are usually three reasons a student may have to pay for a book? They are:

Ø     damage due to pets or younger siblings tearing or scribbling the pages

Ø     damage due to water or liquid spills

Ø     lost from being left in an unsafe place

The students decided that the best way to prevent any of these things from happening is to find a “Special Spot” at home to keep their library book at all times. So their homework was to find that safe spot at home and to always place their book in that spot when they’re not reading them. Thanks so much to parents who help with this task each year!

Also, if some parents would donate a box of gallon ziplock baggies to the elementary library, it would be greatly appreciated. We are going to be using these to protect our chapter books. When a student checks a book out they will be able to use the ziplock bag to transport the book home safely.
