Ms. Hyzer
Hello. My name is Ms. Hyzer and for the past seven years
I’ve been teaching Health to our Middle School students.
This year I am teaching Life Skills to our 6th, 7th
and 8th grade students here at Grant Middle School.
Prior to coming to the Middle School,
I taught Life Skills at Grant’s High School and Middle
School. Grant was my first teaching assignment
after earning a BS (Consumer & Family Sciences, Family
Studies, and education) from MSU. I received my
Masters degree in 2001 from WMU.
I grew up in the Midwest and Southern
states…one of twelve children. I attended 17 schools
before graduating from Tustin High School, now part
of the Pine River School District. I feel the
challenges of my childhood have prepared me to reach
and teach my students. I love watching your children
grow and mature in the classroom, on the sports fields
or courts...Just love it!
I love spending time with my 5 grandchildren
whenever possible. My hobbies are creating: crafts,
sewing, travel, scrap-booking, gardening, and my GRANDKIDS.
Ms. Hyzer would like to solicit
the names of parents willing to serve on an advisory
counsel. Please leave your name and telephone
number with her at school, at 834-5910 ext. 366. Any
input you might have as a concerned parent (priority
of course topics, course content, strategies, or comment)
is welcome. I am also looking for parents who
would like to help with our sewing units.
Thank you to parents who participate in students’ interactive
assignments and those who review the students' journals.
Please enjoy the “Good for You” newsletter sent home
during many units. These things should help us
promote practical skills for our young people during
their adolescent years.
