Detention Schedule:

  • Tuesday, May 13th will be with Mrs. Moen in room N8.
  • Thursday, May 15th will be with Mrs. Mahn in room W1.
  • Tuesday, May 20th will be with Mrs. Mahn in room W1.
  • Thursday, May 22nd will be with Mr. Kies in room 5.
  • Tuesday, May 27th will be with Mrs. Stray in room W5.
  • Thursday, May 29th will be with Mrs. Stickney in room 8.
  • Tuesday, June 3rd will be with Mrs. Stickney in room 8.

 

 

There will be a meeting for all prospective football players on Wednesday, May 14 during the first 10 minutes of each lunch period. First lunch will meet in Mr. Stickney's classroom. Second lunch will meet in Mr. Kies' classroom. Attendance is expected. We will be going over our summer schedule and setting up training sessions for all position players.

 

FFA Meeting on Monday, May 12th at 7pm in the Ag Room.

The ladies tennis team will head to Fruitport on Sat to compete in the Lakes 8 Conference Tennis Tournament.   6 of the teams 8 flights received the #3 seeds.  The team enters the tournament in 3rd place with its sights set on Ludington and Spring Lake.  Each flight will do battle in 3 matches on the day.  Wish the girls well as they look to cap a great Conference season.
 

Yearbook needs pictures of the baseball games.  Please turn them in to Mrs. Korenstra or Amber Munson.

 

Mrs. Cave in the middle school is retiring. If you would like to write her a note, sign the big sheet on the cafeteria wall.  Markers are down there.

 

Pride of Newaygo County is taking applications for next years team until the 16th. Help them spread a drug free message across the state. Get your application from the attendance office, and turn it in by May 16th. If you have any questions about Pride, see Luis Garza, Wil Deleguardia, Devon Slominski, Lisa Eady, or Mason Stickney,

 

Seniors- If you are receiving scholarships from your college or somewhere else - get the name of the scholarship and the amount to Mrs. Schuitema by this Friday (if you have not already done so).  We need to announce that information at Honors Night.

Attention Juniors - if you would like to re-take your ACT to try to get a higher score, you must register yourself by this Friday, May 9 in order to take the June 14, 2008 test.  For a registration packet, go to the counseling office and pick one up.
 

Auditions for the 2008-2009 Grant High School Concert Choir will be held on Monday, May 19th.  If the Monday audition completely fills, then we will add Tuesday, May 20th.  Audition information and an audition sign-up are located outside the Green Room.  For additional information, see Mr. Rodgers. 


Students:  Check the lost and found if you having missing items.  We have a ring (found in the parking lot), and many other things.

 

Sign up for Segment II with Mrs. VanderWilt. You must have your log book with you and at least 30 hours documented and your white permit from the State of Michigan.

 

Why sit in the stands, when you can be a part of the action?  Cheer team tryouts for the 2008 Football Season will be May 15th-17th!  Sign up in the Athletic Office and pick up a tryout packet from Mrs. Obenauf.  Become a part of the Great Lakes 8 newest sport!!!  See you at tryouts!

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE IS A GRADUATION REQUIREMENT! SENIORS: You will not receive your diploma if your community service is not turned in!!! Get them turned in to Mrs. VanSingel as soon as possible.

 

The yearbook needs pictures of Prom.  Please turn your pictures in to Mrs. Korenstra.

Student Council is going to be building and hosting a haunted house along with a dance next Halloween.  They need workers willing to spend sometime this summer building materials, and planning the setup along with people will to act in the haunted house.  If you are interested, contact Stephanie Pocsi to get the details.  Anything you do, counts as community service.

Sports Physicals will be May 19 at the high school from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.  and at the middle school from 10:05 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.  The cost for the sports physical is $10.00.  Must have a sports physical card completed and signed by parents.

Digital Photography Camp - June 12 & 13 Learn to use digital cameras and take high quality pictures. You'll be editing & manipulating photos using photo shop and print edited photos.

 

Seniors, it's not too late to sign up for the Senior All-Nighter.  After your graduation ceremony is over, spend the evening with your classmates celebrating by playing games, swimming, dancing, eating, and many other surprises are waiting for you.  Please pick up a registration form in the office.

 

The Newaygo Medical Care Facility is for 5 students to hire for the summer, to work in the activities department and spend quality and meaningful time with the elders.  The program will last eight weeks, beginning Monday, June23 through Friday, August 15.  Each of the five positions will be 10 hours per week at $7.50 per hour.  You must be at least 16 to apply.  Those that worked last year are not eligible for this year.  If you are interested in this position, please contact Peggy Sue Hicks at 924-2020 at ext. 57.

Students, there are many SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES for you to check out......many of these are free. Take advantage of the short learning experiences that are set up for students like you: All applications for these camps can be picked up at the counseling office.

  • CSI Camp: Crime Scene Investigation Camp - For high school students, grades 10-12. June 11, 12 & 13, 2008. Must register if interested.
  • Digital Photography: Capture the beauty. For high school students freshmen thru seniors. June 12 & 13, 2008. Must register if interested.  
  • Business Camp: What's the Buzz on Biz? Announcing the 2nd edition of its youth entrepreneur curriculum. This class is designed for students who are interested in being an entrepreneur. You'll learn minding your "own" business, be a legal eagle, e-commerce, researching your idea, big time marketing and more....check this out if your interested in starting your own business. Dates for this camp are June 16-20, 2008. Must register if interested.
  • Be a College Student: Every summer at the University of Chicago, accomplished high school students discover numerous opportunities to experience college life firsthand. The University of Chicago has many summer classes for high school students, so you will have to come check out the brochure if interested. Must register. classes start June 1.
  • Muskegon Community College Talented Youth Program: is designed for high school student to get a head start on college credits. If your academically motivated and personally mature to pursue college courses while still enrolled in high school, you would be a candidate for this program. Selected students may take up to 6 credit hours during the summer. This is open to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Applicants must be recommended by their school guidance office. MUST REGISTER NOW!!!!! if interested
  • Ferris State University has a criminal justice camp, biotechnology, computer technology, design and manufacturing, design, transportation, & electronics, architecture, construction & graphics, beginning game design. Some of these camps start June 15th so if you are interested pick up application at the guidance office.
  • Camp Newaygo- has many mini camp sessions for all age levels. Pick up a brochure to find out what they have to offer.
  • All these Camps need participants. if you are interested pickup applications in the counseling area.
