2006 Team Raises  Level of Optimism in School for Next Season

The 2006 Varsity Team played one of the toughest schedules in school history.  The schedule
included 5 teams that were ranked in the top 8 in the state at the end of the year.  And although
the wins and losses didn’t turn out the way we had hoped,  the seniors left their impressions
on this Tiger Football Program for years to come.  The style of football that these kids played
with is what has many members of the administration, coaching staff and community optimistic for
next year.  With the Seniors laying a solid foundation, our younger players are working as hard
as ever trying to take the next step up and lead this program into the playoffs next season.
With 6 starters on each side of the ball returning for the tigers next year things should be very
exciting in Tiger Country.  As long as kids work hard this off-season the future will be very bright for
  all of the Tiger Faithful.

            * Thanks again to all of our seniors for working so hard last year and giving us a very memorable season *

Working Hard In The Classroom     Exciting Change to Scrimmage Plans next year:

The 2006 Varsity Football team had 16 members of it   Over the past 3 years, we have made the trip over to
on the Honor Roll after the end of the 1st Trimester.   Muskegon Oakridge for our scrimmage.  But, we are
Congrats to the following students:     happy to announce that we will be able to HOST this
scrimmage at our place this year.  Oakridge has new
Honor Roll Students:       "field turf" being put in place and this allowed us
Josh Alverson Mitch Murray   this opportunity.  The scrimmage will be August 17th @
Eric Evans   Cody Simons   10 AM with Oakridge, Comstock Park and Gobles.  The
Ruben Juarez Joe Sorden     9th and 10th Grade scrimmages will be held at either
Matt Hilbrand Ryan Toohey   Comstock Park or Gobles….stay tuned.

What's Happening This Off-season so far?
The Off-season started off with 8 Future Varsity Football players taking a trip to Ford Field to watch the Finals
and its been in full swing ever since.  Our weight room attendance has continued to go up each week and at
the end of January we averaged 12 Varsity players and 11 underclassman.  This number is slightly up from
last season and this is with 27 players involved in winter sports right now…which is also up from last season.
And yet another positive, is that 6 of these Winter Sport Athletes ( Spooner, Hernandez, Mikula, Frey, Ferrer,
and Vanputten) have put in extra effort by attending several weight room sessions.
Were also excited about a couple other events coming up over the next month.  First, we have 2 of our QB's
attending a camp in early March (Vanputten and Becker).  Secondly, we expect to have nearly 20 kids
participate in the Regional Power lifting Meet which will be held at Lee High School on Feb. 24th. We
would love for anyone to come out and support these kids at these events.
The level of commitment has been better than ever so far this off-season.  However, we still have about 20%
of our players not involved in anything right now which needs to change.  If you look at our schedule
next year (which is on the following page) and look at our history with these teams, its obvious that we
can't just show up in August and expect to win.  The work has to begin right now. Do you really expect
to be a playoff team or are you just someone who enjoys talking.  COMMITMENT HAS NO OFF-SEASON!!
