What actually happens in the game is that, after defining the play area, we somehow find someone to be out initial blob. Then that person must, within the defined boundaries, catch another person by tagging. They then link by holding hands and can catch someone only while being linked. When they catch someone, the third person links with them as well. Only the outside hand on either end of the blob can tag players. However, when a fourth person is caught, something special happens: Mitosis! For nonbiologists, it means the blob divides in two. Now two blobs stalk humans. Each time there are four in a blob, they can divide again. After a while, there is nowhere a poor human can go to escape. What fun!
