Registration for Grant Public School’s Recreation & Enrichment classes will begin
June 2nd at the Grant Administration Office weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or by calling 834-7119! Class sizes are limited and enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis. Many classes require a minimum number of students to avoid
cancellation, so please register as soon as possible. Enrollment is based on the grade the student will enter this fall. Registrations may be made by phone; however, all fees must be paid before reservations are confirmed. An additional $5.00 fee will be charged to all participants from outside the Grant Public School district. Registration deadline for classes will be one week prior to the start of the class.
Refunds will ONLY be made if a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment. To request a refund, call the Grant Community Recreation/Enrichment office prior to the second class meeting. No refunds will be given after the second class. Camps Offered:
Boys' Basketball Camp, directed by our Varsity Basketball Coach,
Brandon Miller, will emphasize the development of individual skills and team play with the goal of preparing players to succeed in the winter basketball league. Girls' Basketball Camp,
directed by Mark Walters, will provide players with an opportunity to
increase their knowledge of the game as well as improve their individual
skills and techniques.
Youth Basketball
- Boys and Girls entering 1st-2nd grades and girls 3rd-4th grade will be able to attend this fun-fill week.
Butch Brown will be coaching them on skills and increasing their knowledge of the game.
Girls' Volleyball Camp, led
by our new Varsity Coach, Tricia Schuitema.. This will be a two day,
intensive camp. The focus will be on setting, passing, hitting and
serving. Team building will be emphasized as well.
Football Camp will be offered for all 1st-8th grade football players. Coach
Jim Stickney, is excited to work with the “Future Grant Tiger Football Players!”
Soccer Camp offers instruction in the fundamental skills of the game and is ideal for introducing children to the sport as well as preparing them for the fall youth leagues.

Tennis Camps:
Coach Scott Zerlaut will be offering 2 sessions for
participant’s convenience

this summer. Students Kgt.- 12th grade can learn the skills needed to play, improve and compete.
Cheerleading Camp,
All New Camp presented by Gonyons Gymnasticas of Muskegon.
Cathy Gonyon-Varney and coaching staff will be
conducting our cheerleading camp this summer. This camp is for all our
youth cheerleaders and coaches. Participants will learn jumps, dance,
motions, stunts, cheers, as well as tumbling and team building.
Rocket Football Cheerleading
Signup Registration Procedures: Students entering grades 1st
-7th may register for Rocket Football Cheerleading at the Grant Administration office beginning June
2, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. The cost for Rocket Cheerleading is $45.00 for a new uniform, $30 if you have one.
YOU MUST REGISTER BY JUNE 27TH. THERE WILL BE NO LATE REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED. Only a paid registration fee and completed registration form will ensure you a place in this program.
Hug-A-Bear
Day Camp
provides 3 to 4 year olds with a rich environment for stimulating play experiences and imaginative outdoor activities. The camp is taught by Tina Joling.
Two sessions will be offered.
Field Trip:
A trip to
Craig's Cruisers
for children 8-13 years of age is planned for July 9th. All activities and a buffet lunch of pizza, pasta, salads, & dessert for $20.00. The trip is limited to 35 children and fills up quickly. Only a paid registration will hold a reservation.
For those 11 years and older, we will be going to
Michigan’s Adventure
on June 26th. The cost to enjoy 50 rides and a catered lunch will be $15.00. All participants, with a parent or guardian, must attend a meeting prior to leaving on the bus.
Rainbow Express:
We are excited to again offer these summer fine arts programs for children in kindergarten
through eight grade. This wonderful opportunity for rich learning
experiences is made possible through the generous funding of the Fremont Area
Community Foundation. To provide the opportunity to attend Rainbow
Express to more students, many classes are being offered evenings.

Art Classes
This year our art classes will be taught by
Rachel Pifer, an Art Major from spring Arbor University. Rachel is very
excited to instruct children in a variety of media in this class. Your
child will have fun experimenting in fine arts one week and crafts the second
week.
Summer Theater Program
Acting & Stagecraft – “Let’s put on a show!” A two week experience for kids that is full of theater! Kids will learn “backstage” skills like costuming, make-up and set construction as well as “on stage” skills by putting on a play. This performance will be directed by Jessica Alverson who is a student majoring in Theatre Education at Spring Arbor Univ.
Tumbling
Trisha
Ferguson will be leading a Tumbling program for children 3-9 yrs. old this
summer. This program will be a continuation for those students that
participated in our school year program. Also for beginning tumblers.
New Children’s Healthy Lifestyle Classes
In our
Fun with Foods Cooking Class, student cooks will learn how to prepare recipes. They will learn kitchen safety, basic nutrition, cooking terms, and more. There will be a beginners and an advanced class.
Fun Fitness with Friends,
led by Laurie Plakmeyer our Fitness Center Director, students will enjoy a wide variety of fitness activities in both group and individual settings. The goal of this class is teaching children the importance of fitness and turning a healthy lifestyle into a way of life.
Red Cross Babysitter Certification Class
is being offered to
students 12 years and older. This is a must for all youth who baby-sit.
It includes first aide as well as CPR.
Children’s
First Aide
& CPR. is a class that will be helpful in teaching children 9-11 yrs. old,
basic first aide and CPR. procedures. This class is a must for children
who stay home alone.
